San Diego Pride to Produce Multiple Publications Promoting 2008 Celebration

San Diego Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride will produce two official Pride publications this year outlining the many events planned by the organization for 2008.

The Pride Guide is the most complete entertainment guide to San Diego's month-long Pride celebration, which will include details for major events such as the county-wide rainbow flag-raising program, the annual two-day festival in Balboa Park and the mile-long parade through the heart of Hillcrest. In addition, it will provide participants with a comprehensive overview of other official events like the Human Rights Vigil, Out at the Park with the San Diego Padres and Pride's new e-waste recycling event, as well as features on 2008 award recipients, art happenings and articles of general interest.

The 72-plus page glossy Pride Guide will be available in early June, with 20,000 copies distributed free throughout Southern California, Las Vegas and Phoenix.

Pride will also make available a new pocketsize guide complete with a schedule of Pride weekend activities, maps, entertainment, a "booth locator" and more. The pocket guide will be handed out exclusively at the two-day festival at Marston Point in Balboa Park on July 19 and 20.

"Our community outreach efforts to promote Pride events are focused on getting out the word to as broad an audience as possible," said Ron deHarte, executive director of San Diego LGBT Pride. "The Pride Guide is one of our most important marketing tools. It's also a fundraiser for the organization because ads purchased in the Guide directly benefit the non-profit Pride organization."

Both publications will be produced by San Diego Pride in conjunction with a team of top-quality professionals that include Nancy Moors of Ad Ink Advertising Agency handling sales, and Jonathan Young, who will oversee design and layout.

"As in years past, non-profit organizations will receive a 25 percent discount on ad rates if they meet the early deadline of March 31," said Moors, adding that special incentives are available for ads placed in both publications. The final deadline for all other ads is May 5.

For information on advertising in the official Pride Guide or new pocketsize guide, call Moors at 619-297-7683, ext. 120. Or send your e-mail and contact information to info@sdpride.org.

San Diego LGBT Pride weekend is scheduled for July 18-20. This year's theme is: "Live, Love, Be." To sign up for Pride's e-newsletter or inquire about volunteer opportunities, call 619-297-7683, ext. 101, or visit the web site at: www.SanDiegoPride.org.
