Thank you for your interest in volunteering with San Diego LGBT Pride.Every year more than 650 dedicated individuals join San Diego Pride's Event Management Committees and volunteer Board of Directors to make the Pride Celebration a reality.

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATIONS:


Starting this year ALL volunteers will be invited to attend a Pride Volunteer Orientation. The orientations will be an opportunity to meet other potential volunteers, learn the history of San Diego Pride, our mission and how YOU as a volunteer play the most important role in helping us meet our organizational goals and help the LGBT community.

It's also the time to get answers to your questions, concerns, learn about all the new changes, policies and procedures and mostly importantly--get to know your Volunteer Resources staff personally.

The Pride Volunteer Orientation that will be held at our Pride Office located at 1807 Robinson Avenue, Suite 106. Refreshments will be served at 30 minutes previous to the indicated start time.

Training Session- these dates are reserved for specialized training for your individual area.You will be contacted by our coordinator/supervisor in advance to attend this training to review job responsibilities and duties as well as to answer any last minute questions that you might have about your volunteer position.

Volunteer Positions with PRIORITY NEED:

EVENT SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS
This position offers the MOST flexibility in schedule and variety in tasks assigned.Volunteers who work Wednesday, July 15 - Friday July 17, can get their volunteer hours out of the way and truly enjoy the festival for two complete days.Volunteers help set up the festival starting on Wednesday, July 15 and assist in putting up pop-up tents, placing no parking signs, hanging green screens, delivering tables and chairs to the booths and general site assistance. Meals will be provided on site for all Event Support volunteers working Wednesday - Friday.We also need volunteers who can return on Monday, July 20 to assist in breakdown tasks and inventory.

Get caught in the day-of excitement and volunteer to help us at The Parade on Saturday morning. Volunteers will assist with set-up including street closures, stage set-up, placement of trash receptacles and finally parade breakdown.

This is a physically challenging position but also quite dynamic!

-Must be able to work efficiently under pressure

-Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. at a time

-Must be able to take direction

RECYCLING VOLUNTEERS
It ain't easy being GREEN, but with everybody's support and commitment we can create and implement a recycling program that minimizes our waste into our land-fills, increase funding resources for our local recycling organizations and promotes taking better care of mother earth.

SAFETY VOLUNTEERS
Safety volunteers aide in the development and staging of a safe and orderly San Diego Pride Parade and Festival. This includes assisting SDPD with crowd control, traffic control, reporting any suspicious activity and assist in reducing the liability for San Diego Pride. Duties may also include providing security for the entrances and emergency gates.

CHILDREN's GARDEN - presented by Family Matters
A fun-filled space for kids featuring games, face painting, clowns and entertainment.Parents must accompany children while in the Children's Garden.
